Barbiegirl - I'm on the same drug cocktail as you thanks to a recent flare up and I'm also working on reducing my steroid dose (so far down from 20mg daily to 7.5mg daily) but I seem to have been advised to do it much more slowly than you - I'm reducing my dose every two weeks by taking different odses on alternate days, so for the last two weeks I was taking 10mg one day, 7.5mg the next, 10mg the next and so on - then I'll stick at 7.5mg daily for two weeks before going to 7.5mg/5mg on alternate days for teh following two days. Once I'm down to a 5mg daily dose the plan then is to continue with the alternate days regime but reducing by only 1mg at a time.

I seem to be doing ok on the sulfa, hydroxy, MTX mix and at my Rheum appt yesterday it was suggested that if things continue to stay under control that maybe my MTX dose (currently 20mg weekly) might be reduced too - I'm quite pleased about that. :o)

I hope the combo works for you too.

Hi Barbara,

Just caught up with your post. Sounds like you had a good consultation with your rheumy and can appreciated how shocked you must feel after receiving another diagnosis. I hope all goes well with reducing the pred, given my track record with meds I can't really comment on your new combination, but have heard from others that they have done very well on it for years. Hope it kicks-in soonThumpUp

Now as for shopping with daughters, I have had a lot of experience in this areas as my daughter Saskia will 'SHOP UNTIL SHE DROPS!" and used to drag her poor mother with her. I must say, I enjoyed doing the girlie stuff, with her and now miss the lunches and the shopping trips that enabled us to spend time together. However, don't miss the empty purse!!!

love,

Barbara

Hello Barbara,

Hope things work for you with meds - sounds like some good support available. Sending big gentle hugs. I'm a sulphasalazine fan and feel really lucky that it seems to work well for me, I really hope it can help you too.

Perhaps wise to lay off the shopping trips for a wee while now & Doreen's words have made me think....
